Matthew Tavory - Numismatist, historian, dealer.

Coins have always been more than metal to me - they're tactile fragments of the civilizations that made them. I trained as a grader at NGC, the world's leading third-party coin certification service, where I authenticated and graded thousands of coins spanning ancient through modern issues.
That work shaped the way I buy. Today, as the owner of World Coins South FL, I source rarities for collectors with the same rigor I applied behind the loupe at NGC: every coin authenticated, every attribution checked, every grade understood - not assumed.
Beyond dealing, I write and present in the field. I've delivered talks at the Newman Numismatic Portal in 2020, 2022, and 2023, and authored research including The Sponsian Double Aureus: A Historical Hoax. My work has been featured in The New York Times and NPR's WLRN.
I'm the curator behind The Knapton Collection - the most complete, esoteric, shipwreck collection ever curated.
A record built on careful work.
World Coins South FL.
World Coins South FL was founded to bring institutional-quality numismatic expertise to private collectors. Most dealers learn coins from the trade; I learned them from the grading room - looking at thousands of pieces, side by side, day after day, and being held to NGC's standards on every one.
That perspective drives the inventory. I focus on coins with strong eye appeal, honest surfaces, and a story worth telling - whether that's a 2,000-year-old Roman aureus or a piece of eight pulled from the seabed off the Florida coast.
