The Story
The history behind the coin.
An exceptional Meiji 18 (1885) Japan 20 Sen graded NGC MS-67 with the coveted Star (★) designation for outstanding eye appeal.
The obverse is fully Deep Mirror Proof-Like (DMPL) with strong cameo contrast between the frosted dragon and the deeply reflective fields - presenting essentially flawless, with no imperfections to report. The reverse shows only a few minor marks, well within the MS-67 grade.
Meiji-era 20 Sen pieces struck to this combination of grade, mirror depth, and cameo are extraordinarily scarce, and the obverse on this example rivals proof-only striking quality.
